Building a bike

A pretty easy question,

would I be able to build a bike for around $1000? (omfg what a stinge~~~)

I was looking at something like a suburban frame (they are around 300 right?) and then just general parts on top of that. Nothing speccy.

It becomes apparent now that this would be quite hard with forks as well.

Any thoughts?

So I see RYDA managed to pull one off for 1300, has any body managed to build a nice street/dj bike for under that.

And yeah, there are some sweet bikes for sale atm, but I couldnt bear to own yet another farkin stp (oh please god not again...) they are good but never specialised to anything.

If you add another 700 to that and you can get a pimp last Rufus that i have for sale... ;)

However, second hand it is not impossible to do so, but the majority of that budget would be spent on a frame $300 - $500 and forks of a similar value (for anything decent) then you have to think about wheels and still it would be a struggle to do. Not impossible but certainly difficult if you don't want to wait around for some great deals on second hand parts.

There are some bloody unreal bikes for sale in the trading area at the moment for some very reasonable dollars.

Now if you want to build yourself for the experience and gratitude of completing a project like this yourself then all the best and be patient as its not impossible to build up a decent hardtail for those dollars. Maybe not a suburban or anything like that but certainly an STP or something similar.

My Identiti Krisis will cost me around 1300 bucks..

Lyrics and all...

cheer up man,
i bought an 08 subby frame (2nd Hand) and only cost me 220 incl. shipping,
so there is obviously great stuff out there ;)

There are a sqillion completes around the G mark. Why not pick up someone elses wasted cash?

Im building a bike up, the wheelset is costing around 800ish and ive got half the parts so far.

You wont get what you want if you dont build it yourself, you will just get what someone else used to want....

I made sure i had a bike to ride and then just commited to building one up, If it takes two or three months so be it. Gives me the time to get the shit i want!

I do feel i will miss the building process when im finished and will need to start again. It's fun have a go instead of getting someones sloppy's

yup, what everyone else has said. It is POSSIBLE but you would have to search REAL hard to grab the bargains before anyone else does (trading section is vicious)

probably getting an already built one, save a bit on shipping for each individual component.
