Campag Centaur v. Ultegra

I'm considering buying a 2nd had roadie with a 2005 Campag centaur groupset (pretty much unused). My current bike has a full ultegra groupset. I'm a bit worried it may be a step back as I have been very happy with the ultegra.

Is this the case and how does campy stack up the longevity wise?

I have Centaur. The main difference is Centaur is more industrial feel to it, but is rebuildable. I like it a lot, but I would consider SRAM for my next roadie.

Centaur is very durable, I've run it on my cyclo-cross bike for about 6 years, stills going strong.

I love Campy stuff though and once used to it, would never go to Shimano. I have it on 3 bikes and all my wheelsets are interchangeable which makes life easy..

there about the same level however i much prefer shimano because its lighter and the hoods are bigger therefore better for my large hands.

but it does shift very well and they are completely rebuild able which is quite useful.
