Carbon Vs Aluminium trail frames.

I was originally going to put my Rudd cheque towards a set of high end wheels; but, have since thought about just getting a whole new bike and have managed to get wife approval in process... woohoo! :D

The new steed will replace a giant Xtc hardail, and be for endurance races and all day/epic trail rides, so I'm considering things like the Yeti 575, Specialized Stumpjumper, Giant trance etc.

Anyhow the question is, given that any of the above bikes have fairly decent dual suspension, is there any benifits to having a carbon frame? e.g. carbon swingarm option with the Yeti, and carbon Vs aluminium frames of the Stumpjumpers? Obviously the more I spend on frames the lower the part specs I'll be able to afford.
