had a nosey the other day when I was in Adelaide, top work to the diggers, I wish I had the energy to get something like this going in Melbs, such a good spot and the jumps are looking awesome, the photo's don't do it justice, that hip landing is a monster!:clap2:

City Dirt Has been running primo for the past couple of weeks. This is mainly due to the newest addition: an 80m hose that enables all the jumps to be watered and swept regularly. Already the main line has become smoother and more enjoyable. A big thanks goes out to Jamie from Stowaway for purchasing and installing the hose. Cheers bud!!

Kane has been thrashing his camera lately at City Dirt and produced some spectacular photos. Here is my pick of some of the best shots. To view more photos visit: http://www.kaneophoto.com.au/

Unfortunately this photo did not have a happy ending. Lewis did not bring the bike back from this clicked one footed euro and broke his clavicle, fractured two bones in his face and had a slight brain bleed. He is currently healing well and will be riding soon. These jumps can be very dangerous so please WEAR A HELMET. Lewis might not be so lucky if he was not wearing one.

Please get behind the City Dirt Scene by picking up a shovel and having a ride. Dirt for Life!!

First and Foremost - we are now on Facebook: City Dirt ( <- follow the link) so much easier to update things there, so go ahead and "Like" us to keep-up with what's going on! Of course i'll still keep this thread ticking over for posterity or browny points or something...

As you can see from Nick's post above, Kane's been busy with his camera and set-up at the jumps over the last few months: still amazes me he finds new angles! His stuff is soo good most of the shots of this entry are shamelessly stolen from his site: http://www.kaneophoto.com.au/ which has heaps more from all over Adelaide, definitely worth a look! Even got POD on Pinkbike

Stowaway's boss man Jamie has always been so supportive of what we do and came through with a hose; i can't even tell you how good this is for digging and its made sweeping-things-in a breeze. Crazy to think we used to have to ferry water across the road!

Only photo i could find of him riding city (he's the spec in the background :/)

As Nick mentioned Lewis got too kinked-up in a euro and did some serious damage, he's okay now though:

Better than just okay in fact

6850617514_52831ceac3.jpg
We spent most of the driest months of Jan and Feb just keeping things running and tweeking our newest hip/berm line

The berm straight after is so much fun to get right: strap in and feel the G's

It loops back through the middle of the second jump and into the ten pack

Right set has probably never rolled this well before, did i ever mention how good the second is for whip's?

3's are okay too...

With more rain coming through and a hose on hand new stuff is well underway, mostly in the back of the park:

There's going to be two options to the reverse set: straight (stay right) or hipped (go left)

6850615734_1b2902e7b6.jpg
Nige's put some crazy solo hours into this one and it's paying off

6850615936_948539cd5c.jpg
The dark patch in front of Nick is the landing for the next hip in the line, photo really doesn't do it justice (he's so happy here because he didn't die in the 0.03sec before this was taken).

6834999880_47f728d947.jpg
Put work into the hip landing; you can get all kinds of sideways and it'll catch you!

6997019595_df6ceb754f.jpg
I'm a little bit in love with it at the moment

6850616830_7d42fab62c.jpg
Put some work into the jump into the back berm on Sunday, gonna be a real jump by the time it's finished

Soo many good times doing trains

Colony brought their team over to Adelaide to shred the spots

Ryan Guettler most definitely sheds! Jumps look pretty barren and depressing here, this was pre-hose

Finally; a while back the council filmed us for a video about their Volunteers, its pretty wanky but the recognition is always nice

We're just in the first 2 minutes or so

Apparently the jumps are somewhere in the latest 20/20 issue, but i've yet to see that.

Winter Love

Genuinely i don't think the park has ever looked this good, been this big or this extensive.
To say this winter has been productive puts it mildly, Nick bought us all some head torch's and we've been doing weekly night missions because of the shorter days, i'm actually struggling to remember all the things we've done since the last post so here's a few:
7863755500_c41955fc1b_c.jpg
Sheeky floats a nac one while me and Nige shape. This is the park after 15mm of rain in just 2 days: Winterproof

We've been putting some much needed love into the reverse set;

7863741418_febf74b04a_z.jpg
The landing of the 1st of the reverse set is now stupid big. Not sure why this photo is so munted, stoopid iphone

7863758694_cabcced7d2_z.jpg
There's now two lines in the reverse set, we shaped-up the dirt for the lip's of the 2nd and 3rd jumps and Loydy kindly finished them for us (far left)

7863738194_2ff800cf3f_z.jpg
This is the above; its a longer jump than whats next to it and slightly hipped

7863756714_54ec0e47ee_z.jpg
Changed-up the original lip aswell, so much more fun for it!

7863759128_47f854ba92_z.jpg
Last one (3rd) of the reverse got the same treatment

7863756254_d0290dcd43_z.jpg
3rd of the Right set finally got built into a fun jump (see the video at the bottom) and the jump into the berm doubled in size

7863760082_4db0136f0a_z.jpg
The jump through the 2nd of Right Set has been changed to a berm-to-berm

^some cool train options ;)

7863890716_9904d7e95e_z.jpg
The jump on the left here has always been there, it throws you from the Right set to the Ten Pack, we beefed it up... no-one's jumped it yet

7863758412_864c580bf4_z.jpg
Nige has been putting work into the Mini Rhythms so they're... better-ish

7863891260_1c31a5634d_z.jpg
Flip-able at least

7628732022_d6380e8b61.jpg
We also bulked the hip on the top of the start mound, so much better. (this photo got the hipster treatment, look close because Nige even has an ironic mo)

7863759724_1a4da3ca6a_z.jpg
The biggest change has been building this pre-jump to the right-set, Nigel moved a heap of dirt (over a few weeks) nearby and then we got some crew down to get it all done within a day.

7863757134_cc81a88603_z.jpg
Since then it's undergone a few changes and gotten bigger. It's a little tricky to get the hang of (some people hated it to start with) but like all new things; time and riding is making it better. Eventually it'll be one big roller because the council don't like sheer edges, but that's a few months off yet.

One night (after a few beers ;)) me and Nigel were discussing what we'd do with the space in the far corner of the park. We decided on another jump; a third way to get into the Reverse set that we'd build in the future sometime. Nigel came back to me in a couple of days with the idea of making a 'whale-tale' which is essentially a raised block of dirt that you jump-up-onto and jump-down-off.

7863755856_1d260e8a11_z.jpg
We both got so excited by the idea of something so different we pulled a 5-hour night session the next day to get it started

7754011058_b404f7444e.jpg7754013696_9dc73d7370.jpg

7754015142_3ab6f2255f.jpg7864712680_da5d88b4d5.jpg
It took us 5 weeks to get done and we moved at least 30 ton of dirt (by hand). The high side of the landing (last photo above) is about 8ft high.

7863713872_2ed23a11be_z.jpg
Having jumped it a few times now the hardest part is getting the right angle and speed into it, the run-in needs more camber/berm.

7863707616_fdf32d05c5_z.jpg
The gap is one of the biggest in the park, we've raised it a little over a foot above ground level (eventually i'd like it to be higher), we had to install a pvc pipe to keep the drainage running. The council aren't really into that so they've said they'll install a concrete one instead.

7864697026_eb64355a3a_z.jpg
This is the lip out of it, super mellow and high

7863759416_f966294a33_z.jpg
In the last week or so we changed the step down into the Ten Pack into a very big roller, you can juussstt see on the right. S&M bikes Dean Manson was over from interstate last weekend, so much steeze.

7863760668_bbf4b9a8de_c.jpg
Before i mentioned how much more extensive the park is, this is what i mean, i jumped on Near Maps which is like Google maps but with a back-dated catalog of images, crazy to see how far its come.

Local brand Dishonour and local shop Little Black Bike both ran print ad's in 20/20 featuring the jumps

7863793244_962e1a8191_z.jpg
Apparently Alex Hiam (^) broke his arm a few jumps after this was shot :S

7863891774_cc7932b7b4_z.jpg
Gus (^) is one of the best dudes we've met at the jumps, always stoked to ride and dig, he put in so much work to have this jump looking mint

Here's some edits featuring the place

Ryan Lloyd killing it

3's that have to be seen to be believed

Sometime in late October/November we'll finally be getting some council help with (heaps) more dirt and a second, waterproof, box that we're super keen for!

7863892066_8887d1a8f9_b.jpg
Finally; we're planning to hold a jam on the 14th of October.
We've never been big fans of competitions so this is all about just riding for the good vibes with crew, we've been supplied with prizes for both bmxer's and mtb'ers that we'll be giving away to the people pushing themselves, helping others or just having a good time. Anyone and everyone is welcome, we'd be stoked to see some people making the trip over from interstate too, we'll be putting out a little more hype closer to the date.

For all those playing at home you'll already know the Jam has come and gone with great success; heaps of people showed up (300+, a few from interstate too), bought sausages and raffle tickets or just straight donated (one bloke gave us $100 bucks!). Jamie and Matt from Stowaway and Little Black Bike respectively put in some serious hours with Nige to get it to happen and it pretty much went without a hitch, so a big thankyou has to go out to them. In the end we raised over a thousand dollars to put towards more tools and equipment.

Before the Jam we put in a bit of work to get things looking nice and the council came through with some extra dirt and man power:

8295230941_99768ecb66.jpg
We were like kids in a candy store when this turned-up, it's pretty much pure clay which isn't ideal but we've found ways of making it work.

As was agreed with the council most of it got used to fill in the jumps which meant they looked pretty ugly ('pregnant' as Nick repeatedly put it) for a couple weeks while we moved it and used it to make things wider, thicker and nicer. Mainly this was making the Second of right set wider, the pre-jump for right set into a roller, the Whale Tale higher and changing the entry into the Mini's.

8295231911_f6793d2dde.jpg
Instead of a little step down its now a berm to berm that works way better generating the right amount of speed.

8296280880_f72e1cdb0b.jpg
Finally the council also came through with the tool box we've always wanted: we could not be more stoked with this thing, no more crawling to get things and dodgy locks to play with.

In the lead-up to the jam we had a prefect week with the right amount of sunshine and rain so we could put in the finishing touches and come jam day the only thing we could fault was the wind which had died off by the late afternoon. It's pretty difficult to put into words how stoked everyone was about the day; repeating that it was 'really really good' doesn't do it justice, but it'll do for now. As always Kano's photo's pretty much shit all over everyone else's so i've stolen a few of them, the entire gallery can be seen here: http://www.kaneophoto.com.au

Jamie had his set-up dialed and handled the announcements and music

Thanks to Nick and Alle for the raffle work (mostly Allie though haha)

8296452182_1339f93d9c.jpg
We were blown away by the amount of people that showed-up to ride

By far the best place to sink a few beers and watch the action

8295402247_65b5e6d088.jpg
Lloydy is always throwing down, this was no exception

8296451786_f6c3a45ac7.jpg
Late afternoon was the best time to be riding, the crew on the benches were getting rowdy as to boot!

Needless to say we'll be putting the Jam on again next year.

With the money we raised we made a wish list of how we'd like to spend it and

8296282576_9f49e457db.jpg
Number one was a top notch hose and barrow, so good to have the right tools for the job.

And for work lights and a radio: Night sessions have never been so productive.

Focal Point (bmx mag) put the jumps on the front cover and an article about the jam inside:

Here's a few edits of the jam too:

While we've been dreaming up plenty of new stuff we want to create, its summer and time to ride; most of our building will be saved for winter and our work until then will focus on dialing things in so i doubt i'll update this anytime soon.

Over a year? that's a record lapse in updates. I haven't taken that many photos that show you everything, so most of these aren't mine (hence the better quality).

Anyone who's been to the park in the last year will know the incredible amount of work we've put into it. It's pretty easy to lay out the big changes but the small changes are just too numerous to count. In general the park is more shapely and manicured than ever, this photo by eightythreephoto will give you an idea:

1521211_549229518500498_2004165877_n.jpg

Before summer was even finished we had a new line up and running, we've named it Speed Line because it runs alongside the right set and is fast enough to overtake people by the time it converges at the back berm; makes for some interesting trains.

1543965_10151915318138437_962197286_n.jpg
The hip off the first of Right set gets you into it

_D3S8586-L.jpg
From there you're into a long and low speed jump (you can only see the landing here) and a double roller after that.

photo.php.jpg
This lip on the right sends you into the berm

Next up was the biggest project we'd attempted to date; a new Ten Pack which has been renamed 'Fiskars' because of the shovels we used throughout the building. The old Ten Pack had been built and pushed as far as it would go and was at a stage where there was no more room for it to change and the way it was laid out didn't suit our ideas for the park. So we decided to bulldoze the whole lot and build some thing new. The aim of the new set was for it to have a variety of jumps and rollers that were suited more to 'intermediate' riders without making it boring for everyone else.

Unfortunately i didn't take many pictures of the digging or even much of the finished product so he's a little diagram of how it turned out:
