Coffs Downhill is back with another quality day of downhill on Mt Coramba on Sunday 17th May 2009. We will be doing the usual morning session with rego at 8am and practice runs thereafter. Timed runs should start around 11am or a bit after depending on numbers.
At this stage I am not 100% sure of which track we will be using as we still have some work to do on the shuttle road to allow use of accessible vehicles. We have done some work on fixing some ruts but more needs to be done so we may even spend an hour filling ruts with rocks on the race day. If all goes t plan we will use the state race track. If not, we’ll use lower track.
Entry is $10 plus $15 for an MTBA day license (unless you are an MTBA member and you show me your current card). We appreciate the help we have received from family and friends of some of our riders so if you want to volunteer some time to help again we’d be forever in your debt!
A recent thread in our section has suggested that both of our tracks suck and are too hard to ride. This is not the case! The State race track has a lot of new lines and is very fun to ride. The lower track is also in great shape and will have new lines in the future so don’t pay attention to the thoughts of one simple minded person who doesn’t appreciate the fun of downhill. The tracks are great, the tracks are fun and the people that participate in our downhill race days are great too! Come along and give it a go!
Just a small reminder: It is a rule that you must wear a full face helmet in downhill competition. We highly recommend that you wear gloves and every ounce of body armor you can. Not only does it make you look cool in a photo, it also saves some pain if you push it a little too hard and come off.
I’ll confirm the exact track we will use before the day so please stay tuned!
Remember to print the attached form and fill it out so we don’t have to do it on the day, thanks!
