Round 1 of the summer series has been run and won and it went bloody great! Thank you to everyone for showing up and helping start something that we hope will continue on for yonks.
We had 18 entries on the day and everyone managed to put at least one timed run on the board except for Sam Smythe who got bitten by the infamous pallet drop during practice. Chin up pal, conquer it next race day! We had three young fellows show up on hardtails and we ran them last in the group because that is where the quality lies in the field, saving the best for last!
Our resident local success story Josh Button took the honors for the win in a demonstration of complete dominance. It is well worth your while to come out for the future rounds and see Josh ride as he is one of the jewels in the Australian downhill crown. He coasted home with a time of 3 minutes, 32.35 seconds………just a casual 25 seconds clear of second place Dave Marshall. Third on the day was claimed by young up and comer Jack Findlay Clarke who edged out hot favorite Troy Bromley finishing in fourth. We have inherited a QLD tradition by podiumisng the top 5, fifth was claimed by Matt Bedford.
Again, well done to everyone and thank you for a great day. A special thanks to Jack’s dad for driving all the smelly blokes up the hill, much appreciated! Here are the results.
