Considering a banshee phantom. Why shouldn't I?

XC dudes are definitely not decent. I once went to a race and the only toilets were pretty old and run down. The cubicle didn't have a door, but one guy was fine to drop the lycra and take a shit in front of everyone.
That definitely displays Rodie characteristics.

Abandon and go home, like any decent person would. Fair enough, not a lot of choice, but I'm the one that has to live with the image of that hairless white string bean straining to snap one off..
Where's the goddamn door is the real question !

I looked at building a Banshee, wanting the same as the OP, more Trail than Endurobro. Ended up buying a Trek Fuel EX 9.8 with 15% off for BUPA members. Couldn't have got near that spec for the price. I'd like to ride a Banshee one day to see if I'm missing out on something special, prolly not for my level of not much senditness

Not a bad result. I do fucking hate BUPA though

just asked similar question in the short travel hucksters thread...

only come up with the following thus far (not to buy a Banshee):

  1. lack of water bottle cage inside front triangle
  2. colour schemes stuck in the early 2010s
  3. some questionable forum members ride Banshees
Some!? All of the questionable forum members ride Banshees. @pink poodle isn't questionable, everyone knows what he is.

Wait, is that saying all forum members who ride Banshee's are questionable, or just that all the questionable members happen to ride Banshee's? If it's the former, I take exception to that, it just shows good taste.

To respond to the reasons not to buy a Banshee:
  1. Never use a water bottle anyway, even when 2 mounts were available
  2. Everything goes with black. Better than the bright orange burn your eyes out phase that came about. Think of it as 'Classic'
  3. Pffffft.

It was South Africa, imagine it was repurposed as someone’s front door.

Haha, my point was that it’s hard to find negative points, you need to get finicky.

However, I have popped my head in the Banshee thread, and now whenever I see one out in the wild I do think twice about saying hello.

Another reason to get the banshee? Its not a discounted Giant trance....

If you like your bikes with a bit more reach, go a size up.

Yep saw the new Giants in the bike shop. Whew they are glossy and bright orangy gold, cosmic blue, metallic green.
Maybe just the lighting.??
Much better than 3 years ago with the contrasting colours .
Gotta say that Polygon is amazing value.
If you are a bike snob [like me ] go something different.
Also BUPA are pricks, good luck with claiming if you ever need to.

Something that helped me choose a Trek was being able to get demo hire bikes to cop a good feel of, an FS bike is new thing for me so paying the premium for a DIY build on something I hadn't been able to try out was a minus. Local shops weren't much help with Specialised or Giant demo bikes in the models I was potentially interested in.

Bike discounts aside, we've gotten our moneys worth out of them (Basic hospital, top extras) not much help if you need to talk to them in person but they pay up on the stuff they cover without any fuss.

Naw doesnt affect me its people who have been in hospital that complain when their policy has exclusions.
