hehehehe... ok... so i don't need to say anything really... but yeah, i'm a Chef. So is Zooke. And i'm sure there is another... i just can't remember his login.. oh well. :D Oh... and so u want to be a chef? Think long and hard my friend. It isn't all capsicum curls and fancy lights. I'm not being patronising here. It is REALLY hard. Especially if u start in small resturants, just ask Zooke. But serioiusly, it is one of the top three worst apprenticeships to do. U need to be stubborn, driven, WANT to learn, willing to be treated like crap, have NO payed overtime (but be expected to do it), sometimes have no days off, work double shifts and back to backs... basically, the next 3 to 4 years kiss your social life good bye. But appart from that, its rewarding, challenging, diverse and exciting. I love food, and i love hopitality. I was questioning me completing my apprenticeship recently, but found my passion again. THANK GOD. But yeah, it's very hard.

I know a few qualified chefs.

In my experience they all go mad and develop massive drug habits.

Oi... mad i will accept.... drugs though... that not cool. But i must admit, alot of my chefs are pot heads and trippers.... ok, i'm obviously a freak in the chef world as well as the real one...

why isnt there an option for 'had one'???? tick me on that onne. worked for 2 years as a kitchenhand! or as the normal people like to refer to as, dish pig! i did a bit of cooking when the chefs where away though. and my parents give me pocket money for cooking dinner??? does that count?

2stepin I believe.

I want to go and do an RSA course too, I reckon that would be a good thing to have under your belt.

mmm... one of my bar jobs turned into a- "this is a small venue- you can cook, do bar, and waitress- ie work an 8hour shift on your own covering three positions for the price of one to save the company some money' type job. For those of you in melb- Kingpin bowling lounge the one in the casino.Any way- while it wasn't super stuff- it still involved pastas, burgers and other fried foods, plus brekky function catering occasionally.

cool darl, you'll be fine then. I did exactly the same thing. From year 10 i had 3 jobs... NO socail life, a boyfriend, and extra-coricualr stuff like debating and public speaking... AH! that was some crazy stuff... so when i hit the apprenticship i was like "ah.. this an't so bad"... stupid me... :p

SHIT! U want my underwear size too, or have u stolen it already? *giggles* I work at the Sheraton in Brissy and i'm a just turned 4th year apprentice chef. So yeah, i can't pull strings for u, u get the interview, then i can have a word to my chef. Not before though... but that's big places. U want to know about small places, PM Zooke... she knows more then i ever will about small places.
