So, for the first question-

1- I have some ligament damage on the outer(?) ligament on my left thumb which means if I use it to compress(hold) anyting it starts to get more and more painful. I have been to a physio who said the only thing I can do is rest it which I had done for at least six weeks as I broke my collarbone and as a result ended up restting my thumb at the same time.

I know my thumb is going to go up shit as soon as I start working again as after screwing an oil filter off a mates car and doing a general service it was starting to get a bit iffy.
I know it sounds pretty weak, but if it starts to go bad I have to use two hands to open truck doors and have to start my car with the key clamped between my fingers.

2. Poor blood circulation in my feet, is there any non hippy ways to increase circulation in feet. It is annoying the crap out of me, not being able to sleep because you can't get your feet warm sucks balls. I can wear ugg boots for an hour or more and still have cold feet, the rest of my body is fine I don't really feel the cold.

Cheers people.

Oh if anyone has broken collarbone questions, I'm pretty much an expert on them now.

Electric blanket!

My wife has this problem big time. If it gets real bad in winter you can soak your feet in a bucket of hot water for about ten minutes and then throw some socks on fresh from the clothes dryer and your feet will stay warm all night. True story.
Sounds like a lot of faffing around but it works.

As for circulation, dunno. Have you tried small amount of aspirin to thin the blood and help get it pumped around your system? Maybe massage?
By the way, I'd see a doc before taking anything I recommend.

see a massage therapist for your thumb, it may be that you have issues with the adductor muscle of your thumb. have him/her go right through your forearms and rule out compartment syndrome. unless you can expand on how you damaged it?

my great-grandma's remedy for cold feet was to beat them with a hog-bristle brush then put on two layers of socks, one thin, one thick. and use a hot water bottle in the foot of your bed.

if it's that bad, though, i'd be asking your GP some hard questions.

See a doctor.

I don't think internet forums are the place for medical advice.
I wouldn't call it medical advice ... think of it as tribal witchdoctorisms ... I think the main thrust of these things is that people realise their "mates" are not trained medical professionals, but have had similar issues, complaints, Sandy Vags, etc and are asking for their opinions.

It recognises that there will be a high chance of trial and error, but also that somebody may have had a similar issue and forked out their bike savings to visit their Specialist or 3 (all of which said different things) and maybe able to cut through some of the crap when they take their turn to annoy Doctor House MD.

Some people don't like going to doctors and would rather gut it out rightly or wrongly ... telling them not to post shit on a forum won't change that. Maybe we can learn from their Misery

BOT: Increasing Circulation ...
I suggest Leaches ... couple of skinnies on your heal and arch ... maybe whilst doing a hand/head stand or other inverting thingy.

Are you a smoker Fairy ? decreased circulation at the extremities is one of the consequences.

Do your fingers also freeze ... your body naturally redirects blood flow to the important organs when it is cold ... maybe you should be putting more layers on your core body parts ... and your noggin ... to see if that does anything for your feet (grasping)

I vote for the leaches ... and take pics

ok here goes, I broke my collar bone 2 years ago and from time to time i get real bad pains mainly when working over head but the pain stays for weeks at a time , and its becoming a bit debilitating at work. 3 docs said different things; torn ligament off the bone, because my ac was smashed but never noticed untill 2 years later etc. So does any one have ideas for stretches or excersises that can help strengthen the area and hopefully keep pain at bay.

Also does any one else have the issue that after spending months in a sling now when your not paying attention you find yourself resting your arm in that position?

You won't want to hear this, but next time it flares up get an MRI and an appointment with an Orthopaedic surgeon. If its your AC thats rooted it will most likely need a surgical correction if its still giving you grief after 2 years. Strengthening the area might allow you to compensate but you'll still have a damaged AC.

I know this because I'm a medical genius like Dr House, you should definitely listen to me.:)

Nah, I had the same happen to me after I fractured my collarbone, it healed but my shoulder just wouldn't come good. I ended up needing surgery to fix up the AC joint and they resected (chopped out) a third of my collar bone as well because it was inflaming the joint. The bone setter was surprised when they operated because the joint was full of fresh blood, I didn't mention that I'd crashed on it again the week before, hahaha.:)

Thanks for the replies, especially Nerf, that's the sort of advice I'm after.

I go to the doc from time to time but I'm a pretty laid back person and because of that doctors don't really seem to take my dramas seriously because I don't whinge like a sook.

It took me a good few minutes to convince the Triage(sp?) nurse that I had a broken collarbone, I didn't look like I was in as much pain as she was when hers broke, WTF?

To whoever says see a doc, I'm sick of those fuckers, every single one has a different opinon. In one crash I put some smallish gouges in my shin, the doc that fixed me up said they leave the wound open as it was a "dirty wound" they can't stitch or suture it, fine by me. Since then I have had doctors say it should have been stitched/sutured and the doc at the infectious diseases clinic said I should have had a muscle graft to improve blood flow.
If doctors didn't try to big-note themselves and tell me how they would have done it I wouldn't have known it was possibly done incorrectly.

Had a tropical ulcer once on my leg. Thing looked like a rasberry jube on top of a fried egg yolk. About the same size too.
When it popped I had a chasm about as big as half a golf ball in my leg.
Was like half a cup of rancid butter.

Over share?

When was the last time you had your blood sugars and pressure checked by a doctor?
