Direct Mount rear derailleurs...

I guess direct mount rear derailleurs have been around long enough for everyone to have an opinion.

Who has one?
Is there any difference? shifting performance? rock avoidance? reluctance to bend? Only used by DH?

The rear wheel is a pia to remove with a 10-46 and goatlink - I was thinking of replacing the standard hanger on the Epic with a direct mount - would it be worth it?

If your frame has a replacement DM hanger do it. It's just nicer to look at.

BTW - Shimano only IIRC.

Imo wouldn't bother. Makes it more awkward to remove rear mech. Can only imagine it's hard getting hangers too. Not sure what the go is for straightening them but can only imagine an old school hanger straightening tool wouldn't work either. Also limits you to a shimano rear mech??
