Countersunk holes in the middle play no role, steel comes from a junked door hinge

This^ A tyre lever works well too as its a bit wider and flatter

I just use a screwdriver also but spreading circlip pliers work too.

This was for four piston trail XO's.

I just use an allen key across face of piston and grab each end with a hand then press thumbs against the caliper to pull the piston back.
