Electronics help-solar power

Hi all,

For someone with no electronics experience, what are the difficulties involved with converting one of these to solar power:

http://www.onsources.com/products/Mini-Realtime-GPS-GPRS-GSM-Spy-Vehicle-Tracker-Bug-Device.html

They do come with an optional high capacity battery if having that sort of a connection would help the situation:

If it's not impossible, what are some good sources of info about powering these sorts of devices?

Any help much appreciated.

Depends where/why your mounting the GPS tracker. . Would take up a far bit of room I think. Ontop of solar panels you need a controller and then either a battery charger or an inverter which can be bulky.

If it's mounted on a Car/truck/loader etc, then it'd be easy enough to wire it into the electrics onboard.

Edit: Not that hard to do actually. Mount one of these somewhere and that would (slowly) charge the battery. Maybe go for a more robust design for an industrial situation.

Might I ask what the project is?

It seems like what your looking for is a 5v regulated output solar panel...

nevermind, thanks for your help!!

The project was a work side-project/interest of mine to track a remote item. However, I've found a device that has seven years battery life, so the power issue isn't such a problem anymore...

Thanks anyway

Cheers
