Cleaning out the commute back pack this morning ready for a wash (deuter 16 L - about 15 years old) and i thought it might be good to see what you learned folks carry when on ya bike. I am sure there are are some with way cooler EDC solutions than mine.
I do big dirt miles commuting and seem to carry a bit of stuff:

One of my friends claims he only needs to drink when he pisses on a ride, and only ever needs to piss when he drinks...so he just rides until he is too thirsty.

I take litres of the liquid. H2O in cooler months, electrolyte liquid in the hot months. I like to sit under the trees between laps. Of the jumps and refresh myself while talking shit.

Do y'all have different packs for different rides?

Me:
Bikepacking/long distance, anywhere deep bush:
- Pump, 2 tubes, patch, challenger tyre lever, multi tool, $5 note. Few band aids, compression wrap, sportstape. Swiss army knife, some kind of fire starter, emergency blanket. About 2+ litres water minimum, aim for 500ml per hour plus 500ml spare, don't ride if it's warm, I'm a thirsty boy. Packed into some kind of bag, usually saddle.

Medium (over 3 hour) mtb rides:
- Tube, pump, multiptool, normal small lever, patch kit. Into the hydro bag or fanny pack. 1L usually.

Short mtb rides :(<2h):
- Bike, 500ml water.

Road rides:
- CO2, one tube, multi tool, long lever (surprisingly need this more for the small tyres!). Bottle cannister. 800ml usually.
