So after 2 years of BMORC working with council to get approval for the proposed DH track at Knapsack Reserve Blue Mountains council finally put it to the vote and it was passed 5 to 3.

This has been a long haul because the area became classified after our proposal as an Endangered Ecological Community EEC. So this require many reports and a final assessment from the commonwealth itself. Despite much opposition it can finally become a reality. It is going to have to be done to the highest environmental levels and we can be sure we will be closely monitored by the various green groups, but still this should make the result even more of a showcase of what can be done.

This decision also allows for development of the existing XC trail to make the whole area a better riding location overall.

We still need to work through the design, source and prepare materials etc, but we hope in a few months we can go out and start building. At this stage we will need quite a lot of volunteer labour so we hope we can get a large number of people to come and help. So keep your eyes open for posts requesting this.

Congratulations! I can only imagine the amount of blood, sweat and tears that has one into making that happen. Looking forward to seeing the end result one day...

So after 2.5 years of BMORC working with council to get approval for the proposed DH track at Knapsack Reserve Blue Mountains council finally put it to the vote and it was passed 6 to 3.
2.5years ... almost to the day ... not that I was counting :pirate:

Next test is seeing if riders will support efforts at volunteer trail days...

A large component of cost will be funded via Volunteer Labour.
Obviously the more hands, the faster the work gets done ... the faster we all get to ride both the XC and DH.
Volunteer numbers is a strong measure of how rider attitudes have evolved over the years ?? as well as adherence to the rider code of conduct that will be introduced which will have requirements like "Absolutely No riding on wet trails".

Two very important tests for those watching and waiting.
