Front derailleur range - which has the biggest?

I've got a lovely aus made steel frame tandem that's doing lots of work getting kids around at the moment - but the xtr front derailleur does not have enough range to allow me to get into the small cog - limit screw backed right out - cable loose. I've tried adjusting at the other end, but then I can't get into the big ring.

It's a road tripple up front.

Which front derailleur would have a greater range - road ones?

You need a triple road FD - the narrower Q factor means it will sit closer to the seat tube, therefore shifting properly onto the granny.

@ Dales - it's the the lack of range between the rings, rather than the size of the rings
@rone - OK - a road triple - I'll give that a go - thanks

Other option, if you have spacers at the bottom bracket between the BB cups and the frame, take one out of the right side and put it in the left side.
This will move your chainrings (about) 2mm closer to the frame.

May help?
