Gday guys

just after a bit of help.

Im going to get a wheel set off an 1981 repco hotfoot respoked, The problem is that ive rang around a couple of local bike shops and with new spokes and nipples they want about $150 total to do both wheels.....:eek:

Is that resonable? Are there local (Gold Coast) BMX shops i dont know about that can do it cheaper? Im not after a full bombproof wheelset im just after a standard respoke so i can finish my project and finally go for a ride.

Cheers

hmm to me that sounds a little over priced i mean off strictly spokes are only 25$ for 50 and thats including nipples so they would be charging roughly 100$ to rebuild your 2 wheels my local shop charges about 25 per wheel im pretty sure. hope this helped cheers,

Cost:

  1. Number of spokes required x cost: spoke cost x number =
  2. Time taken per wheel to do the job. Man Hrs/wheel x 2 =
  3. Cost of shop just 'being there' ... cost to have the doors open/hr x number of hrs=

just respoke it yourself, spokes cost 50c each probably cost you about$36 and you'll learn something along the way. bike shops love to rip people off.

never thought of that? Would be good to learn

is it easy to learn? i take it you need a spoke calculator to work out lengths?

I built my first wheel by watching this, that wheel's still going strong.
