Got a new Avanti Derelikt Type one, want some upgrades

Hi guys, used to ride about 1 year ago, I had a crappy ole specialised hardrock pro, always gave me issues. just moved houses and had some left over cash, so my mum decided she will get me a bike, when I saw the derelikt one, I knew it didnt look like a bad dirt jumper, so I got it and have now started geting back into riding, and luckily, thtere are some mild jumps about 1 kilometre from my new house :D

Any way, I would like to know about geting upgrades ettc for thtis bike, if anyone is familiar witht it, its the version where the frame is a light tblue and black colour, heres a link to a pic:

Keep in mind, my bikes a bit different, like the shox on mine are fully black etc.

So what I want to know, because I have been outta the game for a while. I would like to know whether theres anythting you guys reckon I should replace/ upgrade straight away? I have already replaced the grips with venom lock ons because I love the bling and there more comfy, but should I upgrade anything like the shox, handlebar, headset (whats the headset used for anyway?), stem? I wold probably upgrade the pedals and brakes str8 away though. I might get Avid juicy 3's for front and back, but if I can only afford one hydrolic disk brake (right now they are currentlty cable disc brakes), would it be bettter on the front, or back?

thanks alot.

peachy

Ripe 'n ready!
Replace the brake that you use most, for most people it is the front brake.

It's hard to say what needs replacing as it depends on the reasons for replacement. Are you replacing just to bling, or do you want some kind of performance upgrade? Only really you can answer that question, just ask yourself what you're not happy with. If your forks are fine theres no point forking out big bucks for something better.... unless you're like me and just like upgrading for the sake of upgrading :)

In the most simplest form the headset is what holds the steerer tube (part of the forks) in your frame. The bearings inside the headset ensure that it's smooth when you turn the handlebars.

cool, thx for the reply. I only included the forks because I kind of think I read in a review somewhere that the stock forks werent GREAT... but these forks on it are way beter then my old bikes forks! so ye, but I see where you are coming from about asking yourself whats you aint happy with, cheers man.

thanks.
