great stuff you just don't like!

I make sure to pronounce it qwinowa, even after I've been corrected.

Might taste alright, I've no idea.
I made that 'mistake' once years ago ordering a salad from a cafe in surry hills. Needless to say, the soon to be beard-bearers gave me a look of contempt; I stick to oportos now...

Did you know, quinoa is closely related to beetroot?

Mostly tastes like shite. Pronounced 'keen waaah'
Yep, that sounds right, 'keen' to try it, 'waah' once you do!

Seriously though its like a lot of other food, such as grains, which are plain yuck on their own but are great carriers of other flavours, so can be very nice if all the other ingredients work.

I was referring to moorey, not actual fishing.
So was I...awkward.

I like it. Sprinkle a few spoons into my breakfast every day. I've also had it in salads etc and find it to be no different to cous cousin etc. My faviurite dessert in Chile was made with quinoa, my second was chia. Both were fantastic.

But like johnny I enjoy ribbing the suckers who pronounce it "perfectly". My Spanish is pretty ordinary, but isn't the "que" combination pronounced more as a "ke" sound?

Unless cooked in milk with onion. Not sure if that's all there is to it, but my mum used to cook them and they were good.
Been to boom kings cafe lately?

On the subject of food.
I was having dinner with my wife in an up market Townsville restaurant (yes, there are such places inTsv) last week end when the dish I ordered arrived with a green leafy vegetable I could not identify, regardless I tucked in anyway.
I was very pleasantly surprised to find it was bloody good. It could have been many things as there are some pretty obscure Asian vegetables used in the type of cuisine the restaurant specialised in.
I asked the waitress, she had no idea either so she asked the chef.
It was Kale, yes that ultra "super food" vegetable that all is popping up in every trendy TV show and health food magazine
Who would have thought that it actually tastes bloody good!
I seem to find that the so called super foods often taste uninspiring to say the least

I was skeptical too. Sprinkle it with salty water, bang it in oven till it dries out, and it makes awesome kale chips. I'm not at all a fan of most leafy greens.

i'm not one for leaves either, but kale and rocket seem to taste pretty good in my books.

almost-wifey makes a pretty bloody good green smoothie with little more than some ice, kale, a green apple and a banana. doesn't cost anywhere near the exorbitant prices these new pop up health bar's charge either...

Some rocket gets really intense though, it's like a lucky dip. But if you get the milder stuff and pair it will some fresh grated Parmesan and olive oil...., yep
