A mate of mine called up to enquire about where he can buy a Sir9 from, had a chat to the bloke about what he wanted to spend etc. and they ended up organising a bike for him! Really good to deal with apparently as well, from my mates experience anyway.

Righto, I'm at a crossroads.

I'm going to get 2 bikes (thanks to previous comment)

Dually - got a choice between
2012 26in Yeti SB66 alloy with XT, Fox 36 or 32 (my choice), stans wheels and KS dropper for 2.5k or
2014 29er Speccy Epic Carbon with SWorks carbon cranks

And a hardtail -

2014 Lapierre Prorace 529 new for $2450 from LBS
2014/15 Trek Superfly 9.6 for $3000ish from LBS
2014 Cannondale F29 carbon 3 for $3150 from interstate
2014 Cannondale F29 carbon 2 for $3300 from interstate

I'm pretty much sold on the Yeti but looking for some guidance on the hardtails seeing as tho I can't get a demo

well you have bike-polar buddy. What happened to a 4 inch FS bike for endurance events. Instead you get a 6 inch trail bike and a ram your spine into your ar$e HT. You change direction more than I change jocks.

Will you be servicing them yourself or getting your LBS to do it?
Will buying interstate mean less "support" should something go wrong?

I imagine Hardtails are less maintenance then a dually, but I think it's still a point to consider.

Robbo,

Two bikes is always better than one.

If you are getting a hardtail and arent completely focussed on racing then I'd suggest that the Yeti may be a better dually option than the Epic. If you are getting one bike then the epic would be my suggestion out of those options.
