Clay Porter is in Australia getting some extra footage for his new film Between The Tape. Jared was his first stop but he's now at Nathan Rennies place and will be going to WA to see Sam Hill.

The Toowoomba paper talked it up a bit as usual. However Between The Tape is a riding doco covering the entire 06 World Cup Series. I've been lucky enough to get some insight into how the flim will turn out. Looks to be one of the greatest racing films ever made. Check out the trailer here.

demo man

Used to be cool.
Yeah, between the tape is going to be siiick.

On a side note - Scott, we want another Graves video for net - pritty pleeeasse! :D

Graves dominated the bmx racing on the weekend, and all australias best were there...bar none....

he easily made the final, then won the first final easily, won the 2nd final easily,
had a shitty lane in the 3rd final and got balled up by kamakaze which led to being landed on by fenwick and went down , pretty unlucky stuff.
no-one could touch him though...

Yes very unlucky - he probably only needed to get 3rd or 4th in the last final to take the overall win.

That crash on the pro section looked heavy - He got up and walked to the finish, but looked to be in some pain - hopefully he is all OK.

Hope he has better luck next week in the Bubba Harris invitational race.

Big props out to Graves he really schooled the bmxers, if he was bum chums with a certain national coach and rode a hilldick he would be on the national team. heard a couple of the other pros complained about his sling shot start though, alledegedly the officials were going to have a good look during the last moto and possibly dq him, what a fucking joke !!! some should have been more worried about finding out what he is doing for his first straight pull. and yes he should have won both days, might impresive riding and good to see scott sharples there taking an interest.

Even bigger joke was when Khalen Young (aka chosen one) took graves out first corner and later when mentioned to one of the officals he said he didnt see anything but nearly everyone around the track saw young line him up and put in an extra couple of cranks straight into him and then give him the hip shoulder treatment and as one rider put it 'a welcome to bmx '

well the only controversy over the gate start was because of michael robinson was in the lane next to graves in the semi final and started his snap when graves did and he flipped the gate, he made a protest, the officials kept an eye on his gates from there, and found nothing wrong with them.... he only comes back about 8-10 inches off the gate, ive seen riders in america on videos do slingshots of around 2ft!
it seems like graves comes back very slowly and therefore early which gives the impression of a big slingshot, but it isnt big at all.

Robinsons screwed up gate in the semi showed one thing......that he was obviously pretty worried about graves and should have concentrated on himself....
Khalen Youngs move on Graves was a bit of an asshole effort, Jareds reaction was "whatever...that was a love tap compared to what goes on in world cup 4X"

That actually looks like an awsome movie. Does anyone know if it will be just like a normal bike video showing all the riders riding or if it will actually be like a doco with interviews with riders and teams and showing the behind the scene action like bike setup and testing?

No need to make it a bmx v's mtb thing - Jared does both and he started out on bmx.
Not sure about the National team bit mentioned above - I thought Jared couldn't try for the olympics because of sponsor issues - seems a shame to me because he is so fast (and I bet Prokop will be there, although the qualifying rules are tricky)

They would have all been worried about Jared because of his gate and first straight.
I wonder how the slingshot will affect his 4x gate?

Definately dont want to start another mtb v bmx thing, just that a few of the bmxers seemed very threatened that a mtb rider could rock up and leave them racing for second....

usually its bmxers turning up at 4X races and taking the top spots, so it was good to see it happen the other way around for once.

from what I know, Jared is very serious about getting a spot on the olympic team and is working very hard to get there.
