I just entered the 6+6 hour, will be my first enduro type event. Excited!

Any tips for first timers? How technical is the trail?
Enough to make you smile, enough to make your sphincter clench if you f l_l CK it up and enough to make you wanna do it all again. In all seriousness, in our 4 man team last year we had one guy who was a rank novice, fit and healthy but full rank novice and he did fine with 1 practice lap 1 hour before the start.

Sounds good, though I must say I had an absolute shocker yesterday. Went round Ourimbah a couple of times, first time in clips. I must have fallen about ten times. By the end of the day I had no confidence at all.

Any time there was a short, rocky climb or switchback over i would go.

I do have one bit of advice for any newbies though.

If you find you are getting ready for your turn to ride. And you need to go for a dump. Go & do it without delay. Don't do what I did. Thinking I'll get through this. The toilet trailers are not a pretty place. they smell and are awefull. But they are a necessety.
I found on the way to transition I wasnlt going to be able to hold it for another 90 minutes or so.....and I missed my rider in the process. prolly lost about 3-4 min.

Hi guys,
thanks for your patience - as already posted team Rocky Trail is up at the Crocodile Trophy. I love to smash myself in Queensland. Great and tough race. Juliane was even busier keeping TV, Radio, Newspapers and Websites around the world informed about what we are doing up here.

Track length of the 24 will be around 8.5km as we won't do that extra loop around the camp area. This way cars can come and go during the race and don't have to cross the racetrack.

Here is a map of the track:

We are back in Cairns now flying to Sydney tomorrow so back online if you have any other questions.

Cheers,
Martin - 3 time Croc Trophy finisher :)

Very quiet on the posting front for the jetblack24!

Any news from locals as to track conditions etc?

This will be my first 6+6 format race - any tips from those who have had a crack before?

Riding conditions don't vary much at Mt Anan because it's a dry weather only venue (the track is closed at the first hint of rain). The track is hard packed with lots of sketchy off-camber corners. Not overly technical or overly hilly but strangely difficult - most people end up feeling pretty hammered after a few hours on track. Best approach is to concentrate on riding smoothly, rather than just fast.

Current forecast is for a bit of rain early and mid week, which should be good for the track and keep the dust down. However ...... at this stage it looks like the weekend could be hot. Bring some shade, a chair, heaps of water and a large esky or fridge packed with ice and your beverage of choice. If all goes pear shaped you can always just sit back, socialise and enjoy watching the race/ suffer fest.

I was out there today and some off camber sections are quite loose/sketchy and dusty. Other than that most of the track is hard plus riding nice and fast. As has been said though probably needs a small bit of rain to damp it down. 12pm start is going to be freekin hot if today is anything to go by...

Doesn't seem that long ago!
Whatever happens, remember it's not as bad as it was the other year, and we all kept riding. And then kept jumping in the river. So you can just... oh, wait ;)

Trail Map

I can find a map of the B track on the website, but no map of the planned course? Anyone know where it is hidden?

This straight from the RT website. Not tech at all, 100% firetrail.
Yeah that is my point - that is the B Trail.

I can't find anything other than a generic map showing the entire trail network as to what this weekends route will be?

Despite references I can't find the actual "A Trial".

It's no big deal, just funny that they went to all that length to show the B trail and not the actual race trail.

I guess Brownster's trail (thanks for the pic link) is the closest we'll get.

As I said, not a complaint, just an observation of how strange it is that they don't have the A trail map anywhere (that I can or anyone else obviously can find).

This was linked earlier in the thread

But is the generic map of the whole area, not the race trail.

Unless I'm missing something?

I guess it is the same as last year but with some sections cut out to make it shorter.

Going to be a cracker weekend by the looks of it. Looking forward to it!

The final ~1.5km loop around the camping area of last yearss race is, I believe, the only change to allow full-time car access to and from the camping / event centre.

The race trail IS the full enduro trail that is maintained by the gardens staff.

That's correct. Last time we rode the boundary trail and I GPSed it and put the map online. I wanted to do the actual trail as well but never got around to it. Will do one this week so we have it for next year :)

Saturday will be a warm one. Please start drinking a lot (water) from Wednesday/Thursday onwards. Showers will be trackside so you can quickly cool down in between laps.
