Ahhhh i see, your "friends" had them on their bikes.
So really, you probably have never ridden a K-Rad.

C'mon really, thats like saying "yeah those cranks are shit, i know somone on the internet that snapped them"

Back on topic, im on my second one now, i would run it over a Mirco-Knobbie.

It didn't last, he got banned for a while. Should be longer, imo.

Krads are a decent tyre. I've been running one in combination with a Primo Dirt Monster for about 4 months now and I don't have anything bad to say about it, other than the fact that the tyre's too thin. It's a 1.85 though, and it was only $20, so I can't really complain.

I've ridden Kenda NPJs, Tioga FS100s, Odyssey Paths and Tioga PowerBlocks as well as my tyres and they compare easily. It's just street/park/dj, not DH, 4X or XC. Tyre choice really doesn't make as much of a difference as it does in other disciplines.

Did your 'friend' get rid of his Krads because they weren't good tyres, or because they came stock and he wanted a 'custom' bike?

Having run both types of tyre I can say that the K-rad will handle looser conditions better than the Micro Knobby. Both are relatively lightweight. Micro Knobbies have an outstandingly low rolling resistance and amazing grip on park and street surfaces but lay them over into a gritty loose surface and you'll wash out. K-rad's also have low rolling resistance.

I'd probably go Micro Knobbies if I were you mate.

k-rads

i run k rads on my bike and they actually aren't that bad. i do some light downhill, dirt jumping, street and park and they don't slip out overly much.( only on wet metal halfpipes and mud)
for park street and dirt-jumping these tyre's are great and wont disappoint.

your officially a twat! If you want to give a review on a tyre at least ride it for some amount of time (ie 6 months) I have been running my k-rads for over a year and a half and they are only starting to slide around corners up until recently they have been a brilliant all round tyre.

But if your like fixie god and think that anything that doesnt ride like it's on rails is terrible, stay on the road.

I’ve had my K-rads for about a year now, seem to hold up ok. Grip is not stunning, but far from bad, but the best part about them? 80 PSI. Actually on that note, does anyone have any other suggestions for a high PSI street/park tyre?

krads are mint street tyres but i recon the shit in loose powdery stuff.
they grip pretty well on the road, roll real good and are real fun on a wet road. i run around 30 PSI.

Bit of a thread dig here, but it might help someone who is searching. I've got the K-Rads (2.30 I think) and I reckon they are pretty good for a do-everything compromise. I use my MTB as a wet-weather commuter, and 80psi is nice on a long commute with lots of luggage.

Off-road they have their limitations - yesterday at Stromlo I was climbing a steep-ish hill and at some points I had to get off and walk because the rear tyre was just spinning. PSI was in the high twenties. Still ok for my limited skills though, and I will certainly be keeping them until they are worn out.

The old K-rads were fast rolling but verry slippery on loose over hardpack. Deffo get some micro knobbies bud, if you can afford them they are a geat addition to ant street/DJ/park bike.

K-rads aree shit on any dirt, but go ok at street and roll well

Go some maxxis holyrollers or shwabe(sp?) for dirt
