Track looks AMAZING .. exactly what sydney needs.

will def be coming out to check out the comp.

but the real question is will this be open to the public afterwards.. had a look around and couldn't find anything on your future plans for this place.

I'd happily pay to use something like this every weekend.

I'll ask Jonsey to check this over and confirm but as far as I know.

Once the mountain is completely finished, it will be opened to the public for weekend riding. There is still a bit more work to do after this weekend but things are looking up.

It will be sydneys first MTB park. There will be an entry fee, and it will only be open the weekends, but considering there is a rope tow back to the top, the money is worth it.

Hey all,

Work is being done at kurrrajong thursday and friday this week b4 the event. If any one has some spare time help would really be appreciated. The bobcat will be there on thursday to build landers and fix some jumps along with some mowing and generally just cleaning up what is already there. For those that can spare some time you will be rewarded for your efforts.

See you on the hill.

Foxy.

Saturday Freeride Report

The day dawned slightly overcast with the occasional showers; The Bike Shed Mortdale (TBSM) set up their tent, Revolution Magazine set up and riders began practicing. The first event was the Need for Speed a flying 100 metre timed section of the Kurrajong Mountain Bike park hill. Four riders entered Stuart Cunneen from C Grade men who finished with a fastest overall time of 51.36 Km/hr followed by Andrei Wittich 50.92 Km/hr and Mark Dale with 48.13 Km/hr A Woman Joanne Fox improved each run to gain 46.75 Km/hr. The riders will try again tomorrow with more air in their tyres and possibly a larger chain ring on the front.

The dirt jump practice saw no one try the 11 metre? jump built during the week by Jeff Cartwright and a few spills on the new soft jumps but Brett Jones tried the second jump of the four pack and unfortunately while trying to bail from the bike on landing broke his collar bone, and with Sandy Vines help headed to Windsor hospital. The competition used Marcus Spies’ scoring system with three runs scored with out of 5 points each for difficulty, size, style, combinations, flow, and a 1 bonus which can be added or subtracted at the judges whim, only the two highest scores are added together for each judge.

Round 1 consisted of most riders taking the southern line with its small then middle jumps and finishing with the birmed area at the end, some interesting starts with no hands or feet were also displayed and a nice turn finish by one rider. Unfortunately Stuart Cunneen while riding the north line fell and broke his leg and ankle, he was carried to the first aid area where the famous green whilstle improved the ride to the ambulance to Windsor Hospital.

Round 2 saw some riders take the middle line first jump then transition to the end of the 11 metre with all riders showing a finish on the birmed area at the end and a few wheel stand starts. The third round saw the first use of the second middle jump a few less impressive starts but more improved finishes. Points are shown below with positions in each grade. The Super G was postponed to Sunday as showers had made the landing area too slippery. The riders received prizes donated by Jet Black and the departure was interesting with a few vehicles needing assistance to leave.

Cant control the weather unfortunately. had a heap of rain since yesterday afternoon, quite a few cars had alto of trouble getting out and some had fun trying their rally skills. Pulled the pin about 10 today drizzle was constant and not many people liked the idea of mud up to the arches on the tyres then trying woodwork kickers and skinnies. Thanks to everyone who helped out an competed in the event over the 2 days. All the best too Jones and Garfield winning the green whistle awards over the weekend. hope to see you all and more at the next one.
