I'm not sure if I love it or hate it... They seem like good value and are very light. Initial ride reports from the net seem very positive. Weird suspension set up, I'm no engineer however it looks likely to break in two pieces at the first decent hit.

For a company that have a reputation for producing bike porn, that looks like the Ron Jeremy model...

To revive an old thread, I'm now riding the XR team and loving it. I've had it for a couple of weeks now raced it at Thredbo and Stromlo. In current configuration it weighs 10.5kg with pedals (race gold wheelset, heavier saddle than stock, Time pedals etc), I don't have the EI version, just remote Fox CTD. There's some race reports and photos in my blog link below.

Had the chance to throw a leg over one of these on the weekend, pretty impressive bike.
The locked out 'climb' mode offers little to know movement.
I'd say you will start to see a few of these around the races as word gets out!
Retail price of $4299 for full XT build and full carbon, can't argue with that.

Yeah my local shop has the XT one in stock now - seriously good value, and if you get a light wheelset it's pretty much similar weight to the Team version!

What a great bike,

The rear suspension handles all that you can throw at it, soaks up the hits effortlessly like my anthem, but pedals like an epic. The front end feels very light on steep climbs , and i had to shift my body weight noticeably forward to keep it tracking on line. The bike handles tight and twisty like a hardtail with the short wheelbase , but is also stable at high speed on fireroads.

I highly reccommend getting a test ride on one if you can

Thankyou Sentoz,

Funny I was also looking at the giant and I currently have an Epic. Perhaps its time for some big wheels. Don't suppose you can confirm a weight on it?

It was 12.1kgs out of the box in Large, no pedals.
But i have had my way with it and bolted on XX1 and carbon rovals..... now 10.8kgs ready to ride with bidon cage , pedals, and garmin mount.

Setonz, do you have the ei version? Also wondering about sizing for these. I currently ride a medium anthem x0 29er. Got a look at a large ei 529 today but thought perhaps the medium might be a better option...

No not the EI version. I am nearly 6'2 and have a large with 100mm stem -8.

My best mate has the medium size with a 100mm -17 stem and he came off a medium Giant XTC composite 29er using 90mm stem -17, no idea how tall he is but i would guess 5'8??

Just put in my order for the XR 729 EI today. Just a little excited!
Was wondering how you guys found the tyres they come with, the Michelin racers?
