Let's make a toolbox!

Ok if this has been done then feel free to delete this thread.

What I would like to do is to create a thread where people can go to reference a tool kit/box where they can see what others have in there selection of tools. There are many tasks to working on a modern bicycle that require unique tools. Some can be purchased for a small amount, others are quite expensive and some are just plain home made solutions to problems created by engineers.

I will try my best to keep this OP updated with suggestions of others. Depended on how others take to this thread :) (I only check here once a day or so, please bear with me)

This can easily just turn into a list of every tool ever created. I want to hear about what people actually have in there tool kits.

So first of all let's start with the basics. What every person really should have:

Combination spanners 6mm to 17mm.
Hex key set 2.5mm to 10mm. 12mm.
Floor pump
Tyre levers
Torx key set
6mm to 19mm socket set and socket wrench
Combination plyers

From here things get a bit more specific:

Wheel trueing stand
Combination spoke wrench
Cable cutters
Crank removal tool
BOttom bracket removal tool for GXP/shimano threaded style BB
Chain whip
Cassette removal tool
Pedal spanner15mm
Chain cutter
15mm 16mm 17mm CupnCone spanners
Derailier hanger alignment tool

I will throw the floor open and hopefully we can get som real gems in here. If you include pics I will try and reference the post number they are in.

Cassette removal tool. If you own a hope hub then 21 and 16mm thin wall sockets for bearing press. Crc to clean your bike ;)

I agree with the pressure gauge.

Get a decent one. The gauge on my floor pump, Genuine Innovations, was (and still is) overstating the pressure by 20psi!

I have the digital Topeak and have been using it for a while. The first one I got was replaced because it had dodgy connections. The replacement is now leaking air but still usable. I just pump it to above my desired pressure and use the leak to set the appropriate pressure. SO taking that into account the Topeak job might not be a good one to get.

Shock pump.

I fully endorse these comments...

There's very little in Choppy's list that I would regard as 'nice to have'...more like essential to avoid moments of frustration and the hurling of components. Though he can have the scales...I have well calibrated fingers.

On the subject of air gauges...I have a Giyo that I'd be willing to offload. They are a POS.

These days I use a ghetto'ed oil filled compressor gauge that runs from 0-100 PSI (you can also get one that goes 0-60) http://www.ecompressedair.com/acces...iquid-filled-pressure-gauge-replacement-.aspx
