Saw the last proper Beasts of Bourbon gig in 2019 I think it was with Brian Hooper in a wheelchair with the hospital nurses on stage keeping an eye on him at the Prince. It was a bizarre and emotional scene. He died days later from memory. They rocked hard. But the vibe in the room was intense and personal so Tex was in form.
Coincidentally The Prince was the fist place I saw them very late 80’s when Fitzroy st was a very different place. The Beasts back then were as a dangerous and unpredictable a band as you could get. Well maybe Iggy and the Stooges would disagree. Anything could happen and often did.
I liked ‘The Beasts’ album that came out a couple of years ago. But it wasn’t the same magic. Most of the magic parts are dead now.

Looking forward to seeing Radio Birdman in June.

Back when all the tea spoons in the cafe's had holes drilled in them so no one would steal them?

Got to see Infectious Grooves on Saturday Night. Was great to have Robert back with Mike. Am a massive Robert Fan Boi.
LTIL: I got to be in a Ross Halfin Photo. Sure, I'm in the crowd but Ross was the main man talking cool photos when I was a teenager.

Three hours of the Dirty Three. I'd vote for Warren for the next PM

Was glad we scored some seats upstairs for three hours! Did you see who that godawful woman was constantly yelling things down on the floor? Warren was remarkably patient :)

Some peanut from out Dodges Ferry way. Having only lived in Hobart for 15 years I am neither associated or related to said person

Some of the old Melb rock kids here will appreciate this. Pic taken today…
Is it still some swank bar or is it rising from the hipster ashes to return phoenix like to its former glory? I shudder to think about the number of nights I spent between there and the Evelyn watching bands back in the day. The Punters always had the advantage of the 3am license as opposed to the Evelyn's 1am.

I ride Brunswick St to work every day. Just recently I’ve noticed some tarting up going on there. Yesterday the old logo was there.

A bit of googling last night says that a guy from Jet and some local hospitality people have the Punters nostalgia bad and are looking to bring it back in a similar form.

I, along with every tragic gen Xer in the inner north, welcome this

Don't ever remember the Tote being that sticky. Details are hazy but I reckon that sunken floor in the band room between the back bar and the stage was glorious black with subtle white fleck vinyl tile.

My first band played a heap of gigs at the Punters Club. Always parked at the brothel in Rose Street - no one was going to hang around the brothel to steal gear out of your car. Seems it's long good and was recently a cafe. The 90's weren't that long ago were they?
