Longer shock on Giant Trance, what happens

Replacing existing RP2 (180mm) with a longer length shock (190mm)

Ok, Seat tube angle becomes steeper, which makes Head tube angle steeper.
This also raises the bottom bracket height

Bike, 2011 Trance with Talas 110-130-150 front forks 26' wheel

Who has done this and what was the outcome???

You can get away with a 7.5x2.0" shock if you use an offset bushing in the top without altering geometry, clearance is veeeeery tight, but it will increase the rear travel to 140mm.

I've seen some threads on mtbr about it.

longer shock

Thanks guys, very interesting reading including the links.

Have ordered an IFP valve and will try and fix my existing RP2, failing this a longer shock is on the cards

See you on the trails!!!

You can lower your bb and slacken your head angle with headset cups if you put a longer shock in.
