Take 2

As part of engagement with Sutherland Shire Council we are trying to estimate rider numbers. Particularly recreational rider numbers as Steve and Pez have estimated club numbers

I understand RB will not capture all riders, however, please take time to complete the survey / poll.

With thanks
Alan

Hurts. Requires Money. And is nerdy.
the majority of the moto's riding is done near the quarry, not near ansto. them trails are too tight for moto's, not many ride there.

The motos get into the single track on a regular basis.

They have been in there recently, while it's wet, & ripping up some of the climbs/descents badly. Lots of loose stones there. One section of previously bumpy but stable trail is not loose & not good condition.

gb - riding there since 1997

According to the moto boys their damage fixes itself over time so it's all good ... http://www.dirtbikeworld.net/forum/showthread.php?t=82754

It's an interesting read, some people are supportive and some are downright ignorant. BUT they were there first and deserve some input into the process too.

Great work people, I've voted and am encouraging other riders to as well.

old timer - I'm sure this happened in the '70s

Hi Guys, My memory is not great and it was a long time ago (super-masters),
but I'm sure the same thing happened around 1973?

I was a member of the PCYC minibike club - I piloted a deckson grassgrub around the swamp where Toyota and the Shark's field are now - then development pushed us out to Menai in around 1971. This was OK with AAEC (as it was then). Then in around 1973 everyone was shut out - this is when I left the club. I'm sure PCYC negotiated entry "just for them" 'cause after all it was the _Police_CYC. Maybe if we could track down someone from PCYC they could give some hints on how to get back in?

Also - taking a page from the Landrover Owners Club - NSW National Parks relationship - there is plenty of scope to negotiate a special club-to-ANSTO/council relationship. You will need to develop a certification/training system for riders, publish a risk assessment and setup/publish some emergency/safety procedures and find someone with a cert4 in training - all easily doable if it is not already in place.

Sorry - no easy answers for unaffiliated random riders :( - other than join the club.

ttfn,
Carpet

Just a Bump to see if we can near to what we expect.

+150 is a good result for RB users so big thanks to all that participated ... major weakness is that non RB users have to register so that will limit our reach.

Thanks again

I guess its hard to gauge how many non rotorburn riders are out there.

For example, out of the 10 or so XC guys I ride Menai with I'm the only frequent rotorburn user.... A few are members but only get on every so often to buy/sell.

Seems as if they (dirtbikers) think Council wants these houses. THEY DON'T.......

Menai MTB Park proposal and public meeting

I have just created a ‘Menai MTB Park proposal’ Facebook page.
We need ALL MTBers to visit the page and give a big thumbs up LIKE !
On the page I have given details about our first public meeting regarding the proposed Menai MTB Park on Sunday November 20.
I strongly encourage all MTBers who have ridden, or would like to ride the unique Menai trails, to come along to the meeting!
Come to voice your opinion, ask questions, give feedback and very importantly support our cause with numbers!
We will be inviting reps from the Sutherland Shire Council, ANSTO and our local members.
An update of where we stand as well as our next steps will be discussed.
Bring your friends and your bike and do some laps of the SSCC MTB short course at the conclusion.
Hope to see you there.
