Speaking of Hakuba...I've regularly gone in the winter. The bloke that owns the Burger Hut/Tent/now Bus with his wife, last time I was in town 2013ish, had a sweet hardtail. My impression was they were just starting to cotton onto the idea of marketing to the bikers in the summer! Would be awesome place to check out on two wheels!

...Edit... and after a quick google, it looks like they're still only just cottoning onto the idea in Hakuba. Not much biking development and a long way off being a worthwhile destination to MTB.

Yea there are a couple of groups/outdoor adventure companies catering for bikers in summer.
There is apparently an abundance of trails through the mountains and I think Hakuba47 has even opened up a Gondola for a trail or two that it has.

I have viewed a few of Trail Cutter's Youtube videos. They've built some very nice looking trails.
EMF - do you know Masashi personally?

Don't know him personally
like most Japanese folk you meet like a friend for life
Awesome place although with no English
Natori's wife spoke perfect English at the lunch provided
My mate spoke fluent Jap made the trip easy

Natori probably by now has doubled the trails there now so two to three days be best
You can stay at his place

Another option
Nozawa Onsen ski lift action although alot of grass trails when we were there

There is also some riding available in Hakuba, so you could tie a few days together in the Nagano prefecture. I can't remember the details, but I saw a few posters about it over the last few years. From memory a Canadian lady (some kind of champion) runs stuff.

There is also a chance of riding around Iiyama. When I was at the train station there a shop had a small fleet of trail bikes for hire. They couldn't provide me with much info. Iiyama is close to Nozawa Onsen and Nagano.

So very true about the people.
Do you know where Trail Cutters are based in Ina City, or is it based at Natori's house?

Natori has a demountable he runs the admin out of in town.
Go to his Facebook two accounts - may help Masashi Natori and Trail Cutters

For what its worth his Demountable is on the opposite side of the road close to this ice cream joint

The lunch is back at his house and has guest rooms available

Ah ok, thanks. That would explain why I cannot find an address!
Good to know about the accommodation as well.
