There are plenty of scammers who work with Paypal. Spend 5 mins on Gumtree trying to sell a bike and you will get several immediate offers wanting to pay using Paypal without even asking about the bike. These people will usually have some story about how they are away for work and will be sending 'someone else' to pick up the bike. They are using hacked Paypal accounts, so their plan is to separate you from your bike before the funds boomerang back out of your account when the original owner gets wise to the fact that they've just unwittingly paid for something they didn't authorise.

Or if you are legit sending money to a scammer, Paypal probably will refund your money. If the scammer has set up a bogus account, or shut their account down after withdrawing the funds you sent, then Paypal will refund you and pass the cost onto the 'transaction fee'. This in turn increases the amount 'we' all pay to buy stuff through an increase transaction fee. Paypal aren't going to wear it out of the goodness of their hearts, someone has to pay.
So in summary:
Fuck Paypal, bunch of slow arse thieving pricks that feed the spammer machine and give them a field to play on.
Yep, that and rewarding scammers for scamming is why I said

and perhaps by explaining how it works those willing to test a scammer knowing paypal will cover their immediate losses might reconsider. (at least some of them might)

So... ah... did the bike arrive yet? been a month and the suspense is killing me, maybe a tracking number at least?
I believe it's been 2 months now. Starting to think it may be a scam website ...

The tracking number is from Nigeria Post. Google review says they are an excellent company.

Google would be quite happy to tell you anything to keep advertising revenue rolling in. 'Don't be evil' must have died a quick death between pool tables and bean bags at their HQ. At least we expect Nigeria Post to be dodgy from day one

The new crown prince of Nigeria Post has made a lot of promises. I think we, and the share holders, should show him a little trust and not make judgement until he has made it to at least 12 months in the position without a coup.
