need information about baw baw

I am going to Melbourne in about a fortnight and I'd like to go to Mt Baw Baw because I have never seen real snow. sad huh?
Whats the best way to get there?
I've looked at www.mountbawbaw.com.au and I thought peopel on this board would have better tips for me.

I'm in Trafalgar and i can see Mt baw baw. Doesn't look like there is much snow up there anymore :?

Prob the best way to get there is go down the Princes Hwy (to the latrobe valley) and go up to Baw Baw from Moe via Wallhalla.

the catch is I don't drive and I am kind of limited to a 'students' budget...so probably no attempts of snowboarding or skiing this time. I just want to check it out, have an overnight stay if its cheap enough.
I know it sounds daggy, but I just want to see snow!
