Yeha that's them, however there is a newer version than that, i think that might be the 05 model. The 06 model is lighter and has black sliders.
Yeah it's got carbon lowers but the steerer and crown are still Aluminium.

They do indeed look cool, this hardtail is going to be major bike porn...
This is what im thinking so far...
All 2006 components:
XTR V Brakes, Xtr rear and front mech, xt pod shifters, xt hollowtech 2 crankset, easton ec90sl cnt bars, raceface deus xc stem, Pace R39XC forks, Custom Shimano/Mavic wheelset (XTR hubs, 717 Rims, Sapim CX-ray spokes, alloy nipples, ti skewers), xtr titanium cassette, Shimano 959 titanium pedals, WTB Devo seat w/ ti rails.

Some components im not fully sure of yet, like minor things, however one major thing is the frame... Ill probably want something either steel or aluminium with a carbon rear triangle, but wouldn't run just straight alloy.

A couple of the Specialized team riders were riding pace forks at Sea Otter ( liam killeen and sauser) think they are a mix of magnesium crowns and lowers with carbon legs.

The Specialized race team are sponsored by Pace for this season. Both Sauser and Killean rave about them, they were decided upon after extensive testing in the desert and then in muddy conditions in Europe. How much of this is just marketing to get Pace a good name and the Specialized team cheap forks I don't know.

Personally, I'm going to give them a shot. The 2006 version is actually claimed at 1395grams including remote lockout and cable and most people who get them have been finding this very accurate, even with an uncut steerer. This is for the 100mm version, the 80mm version isn't advertised on their website and have only really just become available, only small production runs are done of these.

that's quite useful, there are some other threads on that forum and the mtbr save some weight and let's talk about shocks forums. have heard some complaints about lack of rebound adjustment but that's a pretty common thing on xc race forks.

when i finally get my hands on some i'll be posting up weights, performance, likes/dislikes etc.

cheers, john.

well pace have just updated their website in the last couple of days so some of the things above won't be what the pace site says anymore. now it lists the 80mm version, it also lists it with a heavier claimed weight than what the 100mm was and with the same ride height. this leads me to the conclusion that it is simply the 100mm version with spacers put in. adding weight and retaining the same ride height. moral of the story, get the 100mm version. that is unless you really want black stanchions (80mm is black, 100mm is gold).

This bike seems quite similar to mine, and if I may i'd like to make two suggestions:
I also went with the XTR V's - but know I am sure I should've taken the small amount of extra weight and got discs. I built mine as a slick commuter and also light trail ride, and now its wet I miss the stopping power of discs.

I also got the XTR hubs and and they were great for the first 6 months, but after the first few rides in mud etc they were never the same. My older XT hubs are still going strong, and lasted heaps better.

Apart from that I also got Fox 80mm X, raceface deus xc, XT cranks,Raceface carbon bar and seatpost, XTR shifters/levers. I put it all in a new Giant MCM Team frame (Carbon Fibre) and I gotta say it is a damn fast bike and yours should be much the same.

Good luck!

Pace make good solid, well thought out forks and they are super light (thanks to carbon and grease lubed not oil)

I've had 2 sets over time, (and sold a fair few) the early ones weren't flash (then again who's were?) but the later models in recent years are very nice and well set up to handle crappy conditions etc and just keep on trucking.

But, they are pricy and support in Aus is non-existent. Something to think about.

Support is getting better though with a dedicated importer (diymtb) and pricing really is very good. $1100 RRP for the RC39XC, compared to SID World Cups at 1900, Fox F80X/RLT at 1300-1600 and Manitou R7 at 1000. Unfortunately there isn't much mark up in them so no super cheap prices for those in the industry.

I built up a hard tail with Pace RC40 XCAM forks earleir this year.

This one

I'm really really liking the bike, and prefer the Pace forks over the Fox Talas on my SJ120.

When deciding to get the Pace forks, I talked to my LBS. They mentioned that the early carbon fibre ones had problems with the bonding of the brake bosses on to the lowers. Over time the braking forces would break the bond and the bosses would rotate onthe fork leg.

This was a story form days gone by, so Pace should have sorted that. I was putting disc's on mine so not really a problem.

btw That picture posted above doesn't show bosses for V brakes.
