I however am very normal. Trust me.
My AM bike also has no bottle mounts which really shits me, while I rarely use a water bottle on any of my bikes, I always use them to mount my pump and light system for night riding.

camelbak is the only alternative besides seat/pole mounter bottle cages which I'll consider for MTB touring - but this makes getting behind the seat challenging and puts the weight high on the bike.

If you only need to carry one bottle then what about your rear centre jersey pocket. When I ride my duallie which only has a single cage due to pivots I carry a second in the jersey and drink that one first to lighten things up. For you the problem will be if you use 750ml bottles as that will get quite heavy and also the fluid will heat up more quickly. (I carry 600ml bottles) if you only need 600ml the jersey will actually be fine.

Is your frame issue is due to size and space? Because if you have space but just not mounts, then see an engineer and you can get it done, that is, installed. If it is carbon (is that carbon?) see a specialist asthat does carbon repairs, there's a few around, just can't remember as I type right now, but if you are desperate, pm me and I will get u details, may cost a few bucks tho.

Good luck.

Surely some creative use of zipties will be the answer? Zipties fix everything.
not to keen on ruinging a perfectly good and new frame.but i might have to end up doing so haha.from taking theb ottle in and ou thr ties will rub against the frame so badly though.

and im not to keen on the jerseys (xc ones) and the second thought seems alright but would be pretty expensive just to get 2 bolts installed.

Aah cool, that pic helps.

Your frame is alloy, you appear to have plenty of room, I reckon get a company similar to Gripsport in Melbourne, but obviously up your way, this should be no brainier bread and butter work for them. I wd be surprised if it was mega bucks, it would not impede the structural integrity if done properly.

Look up Gripsport and give them a call Saturday morning to get an idea of cost and if they can refer you to someone up yr way.

Good luck.

If you are happy to insert the fittings for a bottle cage inside the triangle on the down tube, then it should take all of about 5 mins for someone to insert 2 M5 rivnuts. If you are in Sydney, then give me a bell.

Cheers

As MTB Wanabe has stated it is a pretty small job. You should not have to freight it down to Melb as that would be your biggest part of the expense.

Contact MTB Wanabe if in Sydney a per the invite, if you are in Melbourne drive over to Gripsport.

I reckon you should be sorted now as you know it is a small easy job.

All the best.

I am having this very problem at the moment. Pivot Firebird, absolutely fantastic bike, but for the price they cant braze on some bottle mounts??

I am considering metal hose clamps, I will obviously wrap the frame in something protective, a few wraps of electrical tape or even some type of rubber. I want it to be neat, so that may be the challenge, but if it works ill probably paint the clamps. Ill post a photo when I do it.
