Port Macquarie's 12 hour race just grew up. Now 24 hour solo and teams, 12 hour solo, 6 x 6 solo and teams, 6 hour solo and junior teams. 21-22 April. Jason English is confirmed for the 24 hour solo - it's his home track so I guess he can ride it in his sleep.
Entries are open. Check out www.refusenixracing.com

Just added 6 person team category for the Port 24 hour. Still looking for a sponsor for the category.

At least 5 teams conming up from Taree (Tipriders)......

A couple of 6 x 6 teams, and 2 teams for 24hr mission.....Not sure if anyone local was planning on 24solo...don't think so....

Hope this event gets a good roll up....sweet trails, great local club riders, and a chance to smash around (or get smashed around) with Mr English.....

See you in the forest.

Cheers

Team Enduro Pulse will be back for more Port fun.

With an expected 250 riders to enter, this will mean plenty of clear trail for all riders.

As many of you know the trails at Port fit those wonderful clichés of smooth, fast and flowing. Well that is what they are guaranteeing and I'm here to say it is true.

With plenty of corners, grippy soil and plenty of obstacles this is one trail that keep you alert and buzzing for the duration of your event.

While not overly technical, it will be a riders course with just 80m of vertical climbing per lap. Yay!

I found that a lot of people are excited to ride the Port trails for the first time, with plenty of riders back for another weekend on the Mid North Coast.

You can read last years race report here.

CrummyMTB has a sweet trail video.

Catch ya there!

When do on-line entries close? Can you enter on the Friday night?

Rain

Just noticed the forecast for the next few days - seems to be a fair bit of rain falling up at Port Macquarie.

Will the race go on regardless?

From the Daily Telepgraph.

"The wettest area looks like being between Port Macquarie and Nowra. Some areas are a chance to accumulate more than 300mm by the weekend, more than double the monthly average."

Port 24 postponed

The race organisers will make an announcement on Thursday am. At present, the race is going ahead.
Port 24 rescheduled for 12-13 May 2012.
Unfortunately the heavy rain has taken its toll at Telegraph Point. The wet weather means that the oval will not be suitable for vehicles, and possibly not for camping. While the track is designed to avoid the worst of the mud it will still be wet and muddy and may deteriorate if used for racing for 24 hours. So, we have decided to postpone the Port 24 until 12-13 May. The forecast for the week before and the weekend looks a lot better.
We’re very disappointed but we believe this decision will make for a much more enjoyable event. We know you’ve made plans and we’re sorry you have to change them. We hope as many riders as possible will be able to reschedule to 12-13 May.
If you can’t make the change then you have the option of a refund of half your entry fee. This is part of our agreement that you will have seen on the Refusenix Racing website. Part of your entry fee goes to Hastings Valley Mountain Bike Riders club and the rest will go to help cover expenses we have already paid for. You can email: barkhut@gmail.com with your name and category and we will arrange a refund of half your entry fee . This offer is available until 5 May.
If you are in a team where one or more of your riders wants to take the refund you can arrange a transfer of a new rider by emailing us at barkhut@gmail.com with the replacement rider’s name and contact details.
If we have to cancel the event on 12-13 May we will give all riders who are registered at that time the option of a refund of half the entry fees or a free entry to the 2012 Pleasure and Pain on 9 September.
