Thought I'd post this up and see if any of you can use it:

We have an Audi 80 from 94. Ran pretty well, niggling problems. Nice to drive, comfortable etc. etc.
Anyway, we've been keeping it going for a while but the head gasket just blew and Dad's made the descision to get rid of it.
There was limited interest on ebay but I thought I'd chuck it up here to see if any of you lot would like it for spare parts or to fix it up or whatever. Probably for $400-$500 (less if you ask nicely!)
Otherwise Dad and I'll be fighting it out as to whether he lights it on fire or I build some jumps out of it.... :D

So yep. If you're interested chuck me a pm and I'll get you Dad's number/more info.

Cheers Ziggy was trying to remember the name of Viton the other day, if anyone is playing with burned out cars or engines it would really pay to do your research on Viton, it can(supposedly) do nasty things to you.
Seems to be 300deg C is the magic number to make Viton angry, so not a concern to most people.

MSDS doesn't sound nearly as bad as they made it out at TAFE, they were talking of it eating bone etc.
Surely thats only an issue at the time of it being overheated?

Yeah I think you are pretty much right, this is the best info I could find on it was really hard to find anything other than people like me babbling about it randomly on forums.

I heard it is supposedly in car dashes now too and that was(I'm pretty sure) why the firies kicked up a big stink about the deadliness of the stuff.

So basically I'm up for a new clutch, and I figure that while the car's pulled apart I could negate labour costs and put a new flywheel in too, Ziggy where did you buy yours from? How long was it for shipping etc, I'm not too sure how long it will hold up for!

Ziggy bought his from CFM ~ http://focus.c-f-m.com/

But they specialise in focus/fiesta/mustang. I paid $250 for insured express postage i think it was and that was for clutch kit AND the short shift kit. The UPS tracking number said the item arrived into australian customs within 5 business days as they quoted but it sat in customs for a good week before i was sent a letter to claim what i was bringing into the country by customs. Anything costing over $1000 apparently warrants customs to ask you to claim what your bringing in so they can charge you fees in accordance. Luckily, i wasn't charged any fee's and within 3 business days i was sent a letter saying your item is at your local post office waiting to be picked up.

Annnnd thats my story. Oh p.s just baby the living hell out of your car and she'll hold up for a while. Has it just started slipping or?

Ah I see, I'll have to look into a similar site for Subaru, no doubt various Suby forums will be able to point me in the right direction there. Basically its self adjusted and engaging at the top of the throw, it slips after I've been driving it for extended periods of time, also.

Check ebay for Exedy clutches Sam. That's where I was pointed to on the urabus sites. when I actually gave a shit about my Rs.

It should improve consumption, but it would likely be immeasurable.
correct. only uses more at full throttle. otherwise it doesn't change it as you still need the same amount of air & fuel to accelerate/maintain the same pace.

if your engine breathes better you should be able to do the same thing @ lower throttle.
