Was just cruising CRC looking for random deals in their Black Friday sale (as you do), and saw this:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/au/en/vitus-bikes-escarpe-29-pro-suspension-bike-2016/rp-prod135369

$3100 (incl delivery) for a bike with this spec seems like a bargain to me and as there has been a few "what bike" threads for this style of bike lately I figured there might be people on here interested.

A bloke I work with ordered one 2 weeks ago, he received a call from Mr Customs re: the gst tax to be paid.

Bargain though! Pike rtc3!

Ah crap, forgot about that. Looks like I'll be stumping up a few hundred more than expected, but still a decent buy regardless.
+5%+10%+ambiguous not clearly defined handling fees. I suspect you will still be under $4000 thousand dollar bucks by the time it gets to your door. So yes, a good buy.

I'd wager there will still be change from 3500.
Have checked out the customs site and it will be at least $3620 (5% duty, 10% gst, $50 admin fee) plus couriers apparently like to add on their own random handling fees.

What is "+5% Duty" ???
What is duty supposed to be for?
