I caught the mother of all flu's over there when I did the Inca Trail in 2019, was sick from the first night of the trek until 4 months after I got back..made it very hard to breath at over 4000m above SL in some sections
If this is the shit that the locals have to put up with as a seasonal flu, shit has gone really south for them to have so many deaths, but they are a very superstitious lot and not easily convinced on western ideals..they have like a 9% case to fatality ratio, really fucking sad!
