Correct - there was supposedly a ski resort built on the Indonesian part of Papua in the Maoke mountains, on the Meren Glacier between 1979-1982, but it's in a part of the country that is almost never seen by foreigners. There are a few travel reports that detail the skiing and 3 lifts there (for some reason mostly from Germans) but since you apparently need a special permit (beyond just a visitor's visa) to actually enter that part of the country, hardly anybody actually goes there. It is very close to the copper mine.

POSM - noted, I'll try to make them a bit clearer/less ambiguous in future.
