Race question - numbers per kilometre?

Hi guys,

I know Ive seen this ratio somewhere but cant find it for the life of me, whats the recommended maximum number of riders per kilometer of trail? Multiply by trail distance for your entry ceiling of course.

I remember it being 1 rider / 20meters of trail

1 per 50m. 1 rider per 35m starts to feel extremely crowded, as though you're constantly passing or being passed.

That would mean a maximum of 100 riders in an Olympic length XC (5kmish), seems a low number

Hence the 80% rule.
