Rear Shock Change

I have an Iron Horse Yakuza Ojiki Large

It uses a 9inch eye to eye, 2.75inch stroke rear shock. I have access to a replacement 5th Element but it is a 8.75inch eye to eye, 2.75inch stroke. Any opinions on how this may affect the bike? Do you think it is a bad idea?

It will drop the BB & slacken the HA by amounts that will barely be noticable. Considering a 1/4 of an inch is about [...] that long, the swingarm will be pivotted forward by that much causing changes stated above. Seeing as the stroke is the same I don't think there would be a problem.

i think that ^^^ would cover it, unless your suspension bottoms out before the shock does. In which case it might not be so good. But you should be able to check where the frame bottoms out by taking the shock off and then measuring the distance between eyelets with the frame bottomed out. take the stroke length away from the eye to eye length of the shock, if this is greater than the distance of a frame bottom out you should be laughing.
