Hi guys

After a flat pedal for me to chuck on my single speed. I will use the bike for the odd ride to work ( I have a commuter ) when I feel like something different, rides into the city and mates houses - and just to the shops with a pair of thongs on.

What would people recommend?

Was just looking at these?

Overkill? how do they go with just normal shoes? I usually only use SPDs

cheers

The DMR isn't overkill, great all round pedal!

Wellgo MG1 are light and cheap.
+1, got some on my dirt jumper, have been great so far. Grippy, smooth, reliable, and cheap.
If you're going to wear thongs though maybe go for a plastic pedal? I know my feet tend to slip a bit in thongs and they should help minimise any injury.

I wouldn't recommend plastic pedals to anyone. Alloy all the way. The extra grip on your foot outweighs all the negatives people can throw at them.
It your going to ride the bike in varied conditions, including wet and mud, Alloy pedals are a must. (or at very least some of the new style nylon pedals with metal pins for grip) Plastic pedals just don't cut it.

Don't bother with DMR's. Overkill, overpriced, and generally shit (speaking from 3 pairs experience).

Wellgo MG1's are cheap enough, for the purpose you've described I think they'd be fine.

Probably biased because my favorite pedals were the DMR V12 Mags...they last for years and if they do start to creak they're easy to pull apart, a bit of a clean, some fresh grease and run good as new (at that stage cosmetically worse for wear). They are great with just normal shoes, I've always worn normal shoes, apart from once when I brought a set of 5.10 loafers and found everything people say about 5.10 shoes is true..stick to the pedals like glue!

Plastic pedals, yeah I didn't think much of them until I brought a few bmxes, the Fit plastic ones on my Sons bmx are decent enough, I don't see any reason not to give plastics a go if you are on a pretty small budget...

But if you want your pedals to last longer than a year it's worth saving up to get sealed bearing ones.

Next time around I'd love to try a pair of more slimline pedals like the HT's....no idea where you can buy them from though but would be cheaper than the Nukeproofs which is essentially a rebadged version of that brand!
