Request for emails of support for Gungahlin trails

FR Drew

Not a custom title.
Folks, as part of the lobbying to get trails in Gungahlin, we're building up a register of riders and parents (or, of course, folks who are both).

All we need is an email saying that there's nowhere to ride and something local would be great.

Dirt Jumps & Cross Country
Bicycle Trails In Gungahlin

There is a RAPIDLY GROWING demand for off-road cycling facilities in the Gungahlin region. The large number of families in the area has seen a huge increase in the popularity of off-road riding, particularly the building of 'dirt jumps'. The region is in urgent need of facilities to meet this demand, and the community (and the environment) needs your help to get them built.

The Problem
Gungahlin is surrounded by woodlands, but most of these are nature reserves. Despite limited recreation facilities, management plans for Gungahlin mean that there are very few places where people can legally ride a push bike on dirt.

Although building jumps and trails in the nature reserves is illegal, no alternative places to ride have been supplied. Is it surprising that this building continues?

A Solution
The Gungahlin Community Council is working with Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC), to lobby for permission to build legl dirt jump and cross country mountain bike trails in the Gungahlin area.

  • The facilities will cater to all skill levels, from the experienced rider to the beginner/family.
  • They will be safely constructed and properly maintained.
  • They will remove the need for kids to go out and build unauthorized, hidden and potentially unsafe jumps in the woodlands near Gungahlin.

If you feel that you or your family would benefit from legal dirt jump and mountain bike facilities in Gungahlin, please send an email expressing your support to:
