I'm heading up to Bright for the weekend with the young family and would like to squeeze in a ride. I can get the misses to shuttle me to one location but after that I'm on my own. I'm looking for a trail around 2-3 hours (more down than up if possible). Anyone have any suggestions?

You're in for a treat.
Have the river in front of you, the brewery to the left and there's another stream behind you which leads up to the campsite. Ride up there and just keep going. Stay on the RHS and you'll see the trails. Just follow them and then you'll see it climbs up to the right.
Look out for some ace trails like Gorilla Warfare, Corkscrew, 4 kings (IIRC) and even one called pump track is alright.
They're everywhere and you will have a blast.
Just remembering the way back there is one called gully. It's good but there are two runs. If you turn right towards the end it's the b line and a lot less challenging than the a line which is very rutted.
