rigid fork A2C query

i've bought a 26" hardtail frame and want to run a rigid fork up front. the original specs give it an axle to crown measurement of 470mm.

most 26" rigid forks i've found are below that though, at around 450.. whereas 29er forks seem closer (niner carbon forks are bang on 470)
i'm assuming the drop is to allow for a sag corrected fork, but what would be better for a bike being mostly used for commuting, with the odd light trail?

When you account for around 20% sag in the specced 470mm suspension fork, a 450mm rigid should be spot on, and a steeper head angle would probably be better for commuting anyway.

thanks UDO!

I've used a Surly Instigator Fork before, worked quiet well! it replaced my 100mm rock shox rebas.

i'm actually trying to find one of these... but having no luck. :( only set i can find in carbon, straight steerer and 15QR.
worst comes to worst i'll get a 15 to 9qr adaptor.

Traded a set of Marzocchi suspention forks for a Surly 29er fork for my commuter. Would have prefered something that sat little lower/slacker at the front but it works quite well otherwise.
