I've got a Minoura RDA80 which is a rim driven trainer and was used on the mountain bike.
Just wanted to know if these rim driven trainers would do any damage/excessive wear to roadie rims? Anyone have any experince with a similar setup?

Nup. Possibly better on roadie rims as they are larger so don't turn as tight and rev slower for the same speed.

They are no problems with setting your rodie up on board with this belt driven system.
Ive got a nice set of mavic kysriums on my rodie (and running on my trainer) and have had no problem providing you check the setup EVERY time you get on board for a spin?
Otherwise get urself a crappy rear wheel from somewhere if you stress over it and if something happens then its no drama?
