Rims and tyres for hilux

Hey guys,

I bought myself a 4door Toyota hilux sr5 and I'm wanting to put new rims on it.. As some of u might know there is a weight limit with what rims and tyres you put on.. I have checked all the rim load capacity and it's all sweet, ( rims: CSA sniper 20inch) but I'm having trouble finding the right tyres for that load capacity.. If anyone knows what tyres I can put on or anything about it, would be much appreciated if u can let me know..

Cheers,

Nath.

20" low profile on a hilux? I can't believe there's not a queue of people telling you you're an arseclown. I'll never understand why people keep doing this, but it's your money, do have fun. Ask the tyre shop which are the most useless and pointless...and expensive, and get those.
Sorry for being a jerk, but have you considered buying a commodore/falcon ute as opposed to a pickup, as IMHO, you are sacrificing everything sensible and going for an impractical poseur machine. Will still handily like shit I imagine.
Enjoy.

Seen it done before, hate it, seriously, a hilux is rough enough without an inch of rubber between the bitumen and the rim. I'm allowed to say that, I own one.

Keep the stock rim size and get some mickey thompsons or BF Muddies.

Or a set of AT's will run better than either option on the road and get you out of trouble on most gravel driveways.

This^^^

Don't become the tool that turns a more than capable off-roader into an ugly POS with bigger rim size than sense
go a set of 33" muddies and it'd look like a beast:fat:

Or just buy a ute. (bangs head on keyboard)
Dont get me wrong, I run rediculously large mud tyres on a completely impractical vehicle, but I live in the bush, on a large clay bush block, cut and cart all my own wood for our heating......and I actually go 4bying. If I didn't need a fourby ute, I'd drive a more practical vehicle road ute any day.

Surely you aren't suggesting all these immaculate, clean and unscratched Rodeos, Hiluxes, Tritons etc with black rims, muddies, winches and snorkels don't go offroad?? I see about a hundred on the short drive to the train station everyday. My neck gets sore from all the head-shaking.

I see heaps of the twin cabs on road decked out with the full ARB catalog, 10k worth of shit. I've never seen one with a bit of damage and i've NEVER, seen one on a track

Blah blah I don't wash my shitbox between wheeling trips because I want to show everyone what a hard c#nt outdoorsy bushman 4X4ing mud bashing tough man I am blah blah blah.

Sounding a little defensive therem mate. ;)
Most people I know who get them properly muddy wash them afterwards because they love their busses.
Others keep them polished and never take them off the black stuff because they love their busses.
Some get a bit of mud on their polished busses and leave it there because it looks hardcore and they love their busses
I never wash my bus because I live along a muddy dusty road, and I don't care how it looks, and im a jackass...and I love my bus.

Haha, i do reckon my gu looks great covered in mud, but the day after i get back from every trip clean it up spotless. Its too hard fixing shit when its covered in mud.

But its easy to tell when a car gets used and washed or just doesnt get used. Unless people hit up the panel beaters and get a respray after every trip, i dont have the money for that and just live with all the dents and scratches.

2 pages of people telling this guy what to do with his money...

Not everyone has to do what you want them to do, not everyone has to like what you like, do your own thing and don't judge others for doing theirs..

'aight, now you talkin.
Respect gangsta. Keep it real dog.
Oh wait, that's not bogan, sorry.

My point, and probably others I imagine, is that when you propose stupid pointless things, expect to be flamed or at least given a reality check. After that, and as I said in my first post, have fun, but know that there are consequences and drawbacks.

If you wanna run bmx wheels on your DH bike cos it will look sweet, and just a bit unique, and want to know people thoughts on the best tyre, expect some flak. The hilux isn't a DH bike, but the theory is similar. Feel free to point out the numerous logical fallacies in my arguement.

Mmmmm, 20" DH wheels. Fully sic mate.
