Rocky Trail will join forces with organisers from Newtons Nation to run the 2060 Downhill and 2060 Dual Slalom races at the infamous gravity and music festival at Mount Panorama in Bathurst.
On the weekend of 27-29 April Mount Panorama will be brought to life with action sports and music.
“Our downhillers will be in for a treat on the Mount Panorama trails and we are excited to run these events with Newtons Nation. The races will perfectly complement the state series that we have been organising – we’re going to kick off the state gravity racing season with a bang this year”, said Martin Wisata from Rocky Trail.
With hosting club Central Tablelands MTB the 2060 Downhill track for the competition will be in mint condition and the popular 2060 Dual Slalom tracks will be revived as well. A shuttle service will run for 2060 Downhillers on all three days and all gravity competitors will get to enjoy VIP access and services all weekend.
“With nearly 200 competitors and both Sam Hill and Jill Kinter coming to the last Newtons we knew we must be onto something good”, said Ben Perry, self-appointed Prime Minister of Newtons Nation. Promising a serious speed dash for the 2060 Downhill with technical rock features and a thrilling ride between gullies from the top to bottom, he adds that the Dual Slalom will be on two parallel tracks, starting right in the heart of the event centre.
“Dual Slalom is a bit more easy-going, but can be a real thrill as you race one-on-one against a second rider. Great to challenge your mates to a race-off”, adds Martin Wisata about the short-course sprint racing format, which will make a return to Newtons Nation this year. Rocky Trail will be handling registrations for all gravity events, including MTB Trials and a MTB division in the dirt jumping.
Registration fees for competitors also include the three-day music festival entry passes. Newtons Nation will announce the bands to play by the end of February and primary sponsor Sony Music has already promised an awesome line up.
