Santa Cruz V10 Shock HELP

Hi,
I took my shock out of my v10 and changed the spring. Now i am trying to put it back in, but the holes are to short for the shock.
ANY IDEAS

Put the rear bolt in first manipulate the rear end to put the front in then do both up . .
