Overall leaders by five minutes are the GU/SRAM/Nite Rider or four riders including Athens Olympian Sid Taberlay (Tasmania). There is a close race for second and third with only 20 seconds separating Orbea and the Flight Centre Pro team.

However the fastest lap time of 31min 46 seconds was taken out by young Canberra rider, Ben Henderson. Henderson used his knowledge of the course to get a clear run on the second lap of the day beating Athens Olympian Sid Taberlay by 20 seconds.

The fastest women’s lap was taken by Tasmania’s Rowena Fry in 37 minutes and 11 seconds. While the fastest women’s team after 4 hours of racing were Canberra duo of Rebecca Henderson and Niki Fisher.

In the solo riders, the women’s race has only one minute and a half separating leader

Alexandra Kiendl(Sydney) and Justine Leahy (Coffs Harbour).

In the men’s solo race hot favourite is currently sitting in third place with Wayne Anderson and High Stodart in first and second respectively. Riding in fourth place is Thomas Lindup.

With a full 20 hours to go race positions could change dramatically particularly in the solo race as temperatures are expected to plummet to 1 degree C overnight.
