In Europe they have proper Alps too, where even on an eBike (where you might be running a lower assistance for maximum climb range) the granny gears might be more appropriate to the terrain
Not buying it. It's not like we don't have fire roads or technical climbs that are just as steep.

Honestly this linkglide thing is so contradictory. We already know, even though they won't say, that more gears means all your shit wears faster. o what do they do, make all the new ebikes come 12 speed standard. Then they go an make another groupset and say oh yeah it wears too quick so lets make it thicker and heavier and new. Nah you muppets just use the pinnacle of speeds - 9 speed. Make everything 9 speed minimum. All the low end acera stuff, ditch tourney, just consolidate and make it all 9 speed. 9 speed is plenty tough for ebikes.

100% but they know that too and shouting 'everyone back to 9spd, we were wrong' doesn't sell components.
